He’s Back!

•January 24, 2011 • 3 Comments

Most of you know that Ben has been out of commission for the past month (5 weeks to be exact) with a kidney stone. But Praise the LORD, he is finally back home and on his way to being back to normal. (Make that better than normal.)

We were able to capture some lovely lighting after our Sunday afternoon nap today. I also thought you might enjoy seeing how handsome he is these days.

Moving On

If you’re still holding your breath for Colorado part 2, then you’re probably dead by now. Obviously I’ve let my blog fall of the face of the earth, but I’ve decided to revisit some recent memories for all to see. You can go through the holidays without capturing a few good pics!

Colorado: Day 1 & 2

Day 1: We arrived at the Denver airport and were picked up by Ben’s friend Barton. We drove approx. 1.5 hrs south to Manitou Springs where we stayed two nights in the Summit cabins. We went with all the students to a local park where they played sports and had a cookout. The weather was rainy, cold and not as enjoyable as Ben had described. However it was still nice to meet a lot of the people Ben always talks about.

Day 2: We took a walk to downtown Manitou Springs where there are a lot of unique shops and restaurants. Our first stop was to get breakfast at the Mate Factor – a place Ben had always described to me as “Lord of the Rings-esque” ran by dwarfs and such. It definitely lived up to its reputation. The rest of the day we wandered from store to store. I tried some water from one of the springs but it was more like soda-water and tasted nasty.

Later in the afternoon we went with Ben’s friend Tim to the Garden of the Gods and also visited the Air Force Academy. It was closing just as we arrived so unfortunately all we could see was the outside of the chapel.

That evening was graduation for the Summit students. We heard some good speeches and got to spend time chatting with a lot of Ben’s friends. All-in-all, a day full of a lot of walking and lot of fun.

Leah + Chase

Here are a few shots from the wedding Ben & I did this past Saturday. We couldn’t ask for a better couple to photograph – Leah seemed like she’d been modeling for years.

Visitor from Afar

Two weeks ago, my dear friend Katie (from camp) came for a visit. [I believe our last face-to-face interaction was at least 4 years ago and well before she graduated from high school.] I managed to bribe her to come and stay with us for a few days and we had a splendid time. We watched a few movies, introduced her (and successfully got her addicted) to LOST, visited the local Blendon Woods, perused Easton and went to the pool (even though it was freezing). We found a new kindred spirit and felt as though we’d gained a sister. Here are some photos from our fun-times weekend.

It’s About Time

•May 28, 2010 • 5 Comments

After being openly chastised (or maybe just mentioned) on my sister’s blog, I decided it’s about time I finally upload all the pictures I’ve been harboring. I’m adding them as a slideshow because individually posting is quite time-consuming. Enjoy seeing what we’ve been up to in the last month. I guarantee we did more than just watch our cats do stuff, but of course we don’t photograph everything!

[Not pictured but deserving of an honorable mention: our trip to the farmer’s markets, my root canal, Smokey’s hairball, Ben conquering Fallout 3, playing softball at youth group, enjoying our new chairs on the front porch, attempting to get tan, etc.]
